4 reasons why TX is doing well

In a video on MSN Money, James Gaines, a research economist at the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University talks about the 4 reasons why TX is doing well in the housing blahs and mortgage meltdown.  Here’s the quick list:

  1. TX did not have the big boom or bubble.
  2. TX is an affordable state with housing prices more or less in line with income.
  3. The TX economy is good.  In 2007 we were the lead state in job creation adding 250,000 new jobs which increased the population which keeps up demand.
  4. TX has seen little over-building, some but not severe … thus supply & demand have been fairly balanced.
