• 8 colleges/universities: 118,000 students
• 39% of the population over 25 has a bachelor’s degree (vs. 27% nationally)
• Between 1980 and 2006, the Austin MSA resident population has grown from 585,000 to 1,514,000
• The number of non-farm jobs grew from 243,800 to 720,000 during this period
• The Austin MSA is projected to grow to 2,047,500 by 2015
• The Austin MSA is projected to add 91,000 jobs in the next 5 years
