What is 5-star Green?

Austin Energy’s Residential Green Building Program rates new and remodeled homes using sustainable guidelines on a scale of 1 to 5 stars: the more green features in the home, the more stars.
Homes are rated in six areas:
Energy efficiency
Testing
Water efficiency
Materials efficiency
Heath and safety
Community
Receiving a Green Home Rating
To rate a new or remodeled home in Austin Energy’s service area, the builder, architect, or designer must coordinate with Austin Energy Green Building™. We play a part by providing information to help you and your building team make good design and specification choices.
Only about 50 homes in Austin have attained 5-star status and only about 20 of every hit the resale market. Two of them are currently on the market … visit the virtual tours at:
